Three defeats in a row
Chennai lost this season’s IPL against PBKS in a game held last Sunday at Brabourne Stadium. The four-time champion might not lift its fifth title this season with the performance of three losses in a row and no win so far.
They lost by 54 runs against Punjab when they took the pitch in the second innings. They must sprint to chase the 180 runs off 20 overs previously scored by PBKS but they do not seem to have run at all. Instead, they jog between wickets with 126 off 18 overs as their final score.
“I think we lost too many wickets in the powerplay. We did not find the momentum from ball one, so we need to find ways to get better and come back stronger,” Captain Jadeja said.
Meanwhile, Shivam Dube was able to lift the team a little bit by scoring a half-century which is his second in the 2022 season. He is another international player besides the duo bowler Dwaine Pretorius and Chris Jordan. Dube was the top scorer in the second innings of Sunday’s match with 57 runs off 30 balls.
“He has been batting really well,” Jadeja praised Dube. “He has been batting really well and he batted well today too. I think keeping him in a good frame of mind would be the key.”
CSK will come back to the field on April 9 in a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at DY Patil Stadium. They must work extra hard to avoid losing for the fourth time since the beginning of the season.
“Definitely, we will work hard and come back stronger,” said the skipper ending his statement.
