Delhi Capitals secure second win against KKR in IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals went wild in yesterday's match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 10, 2022. The Capitals went over the top by scoring a whopping 44 runs higher than its opponent. They scored 215 runs in 20 overs as they bat in the first innings.

This is DC’s second win over three games in the Indian Premiers League season 2022. They won by four wickets in 18.2 overs in their first match against the Mumbai Indians on March 27.

Delhi almost win in the second game against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 7. But ultimately lost when LSG managed to pass the team’s score in the second innings at the last overs with 2 balls left.

They also lost in the third game on April 2 since they fail to chase the Gujarat Titans' score.

Australian batter David Warner especially became one of the highlights during the match as he bats as an opener for DC while partnering with Prithvi Shaw. Both scored more than a half-century and are the top scorers for Delhi. Warner scored 61 runs off 45 balls with Shaw following behind at 51 runs off 29 balls.

The other scorers for the Capitals are Shardul Thakur with 29 runs not out off 11 balls and Axar Patel with 22 runs off 14 balls. They contributed 49 runs to the total in the last 3.2 overs.

David Warner made history

In the same game, Warner surpassed a milestone in the history of the IPL by scoring his 51st half-century against Kolkata. His first half-century this season was completed when he scored a six off Andre Russell.

Warner joined as only the fifth person in the history of IPL to have scored 5,500 runs across the tournaments. The other four on the list are Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Suresh Raina.

KKR perspective

KKR’s decision to bowl in the first innings seemed to be a mistake since they could not chase their opponent in the second innings. The team failed to surpass their opponent’s score and ended the innings with 171 runs with skipper Shreyas Iyer top-scoring at 54 runs off 33 balls.

The Knight Riders also could not finish the whole 20 overs because Delhi dismissed all of their batsmen at 19.4 overs. They had zero wickets left in the innings and thus were unable to bat the last two balls.

Even though they lost, KKR player Kuldeep Yadav was named player of the match due to his bowling performance. Yadav was able to hit four wickets and conceded 35 runs during his four overs on the pitch.
