History
Both these teams are on the opposite ends of the IPL spectrum, with CSK winning 3 titles and reaching the final 8 times, while DC have never reached a single final so far, let alone win a title. They have faced each other 26 times, with CSK winning 19 of those matches, and DC winning only 7. Chennai also won all 3 matches these teams played last season. However, earlier this season, Delhi Capitals beat CSK convincingly by 44 runs, and are currently in much better form as well.
Team News
CSK started the IPL in great fashion, by beating the favourites Mumbai Indians, however they have struggled massively ever since. Missing key players, they lost back to back matches against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, and were near the bottom of the league table.
However a comprehensive victory over KXIP had elevated them to the 5th spot, as their openers completely decimated the opposition. But then, the batting again failed as they failed to chase down a moderate score against KKR. This has become a recurring issue for Chennai as their top-order failed against RCB as well. However, they bounced back strongly with a 20 run win over SRH, and are looking confident going into this game.
The Delhi Capitals won their opening two matches to get off to the perfect start, and were top of the table before they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, they regained momentum and went on to win a hattrick of games. Their batting top order looks fairly consistent, with notable contributions from at least two of the top order batsmen in every game so far, followed by some big hitting by the likes of Stoinis and Hetmyer after them.
The bowling looks very good, however, with very economical spells by the spinners and a brilliant pace partnership between Rabada and Nortje. DC lost to MI by a narrow margin, before coming back to win brilliantly against RR. A couple of key injuries to Amit Mishra and Rishabh Pant is a very worrying sign, however, with their replacements not performing so well.
Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction
To Win The Match
DC are the favourites to win the match with odds of 1.75 as per LeoVegas, which is not surprising considering they are in brilliant form of late, with 4 wins in their last 5 matches. CSK have been struggling, in comparison, winning just 2 matches out of their last 5 matches this season, and are 2.08 to win this match. However they did win their last match convincingly.

Highest Opening Partnership
DC are favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership in this match. This is primarily because they have a fixed opening pair, unlike CSK. Shaw and Dhawan have opened together in every single match so far, while CSK have experimented with several combinations.
Top Team Bowler
Sam Curran is the favourite from CSK to be the top bowler at 4.00, followed by experienced leggie Piyush Chawla at 4.33 and Chahar at 4.50.
South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada is in brilliant form of late, and is DC’s favourite to be the top bowler, at 3.00. He is also the current purple cap holder. He is followed by compatriot Nortje at 3.75, who was the man of the match in the previous match.
Total Runs In The Match
Odds of there being more than 326.5 runs in this match are 1.64, as per LeoVegas. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.
Individual Player Betting
- Shikhar Dhawan to score more than 26.5 runs has odds of 1.87,which is a tempting bet as he has scored back to back half centuries. Watson to score more than 24.5 runs also has odds of 1.87, which is also a tempting bet as he would like to continue his current form.
- DC to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.05, which is understandable as they have Stoinis and Dhawan, who prefer the aerial route more often than not. CSK to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.10, which can be tempting with Dhoni, Watson and Du Plessis all capable of hitting many sixes.
- Rabada to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 1.96 which is a given with his form, while Curran to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.50, which is attractive as he can snap up key middle-over wickets.
