IPL Chennai loses four in a row - the Global Circulate

Once again, Chennai Super Kings failed to gain a victory in last night’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at DY Patil Stadium. It was the team’s first time in IPL history to have four consecutive losses since a decade ago. CSK were defeated by SRH by eight wickets, with Abhishek Sharma as the Man of the Match.

SRH won the toss and CSK had the first bat. However, CSK faced some struggles from the start. While the four-time champion failed to give its best performance, SRH, on the other hand, gave their all. Sharma stole the attention by scoring 75 runs off 50 balls and eventually led the team to victory with 155/2 in 17.4 overs. His teammate, Rahul Tripathi, also smashed 39 off only 15 balls.

SRH’s captain, Kane Williamson, gave an opening stand of 89. Regarding Sharma’s play, the captain delivered praise to his teammate. "The ball held on the surface (but) we were able to build partnerships and Abhishek was terrific. The game always challenges you; everybody is trying to make contributions to the team," he said.

SRH earns first victory in IPL 2022

SRH's victory became their first win in the 2022 IPL after having had four consecutive losses from previous matches. As for CSK, Moeen Ali helped the team by hitting 48 runs off 35 balls, and Jadeja hit a quickfire 23. But it seems like it was not enough to break CSK’s losing streak.

Given the team's record and history, many expected CSK to win the game and be capable of defeating SRH and claiming their first victory in IPL 2022. Apparently, the return of Moeen Ali and Jadeja was not enough to bring CSK back from their slump.

The newly appointed CSK captain, Ravindra Jadeja, responded to his team's defeat by saying that the team is lacking in the bowling department. "Disappointed with the bowlers' performance. We were 20–25 runs behind. We were looking forward to fighting till the last minute. 155 was not a bad target, and our bowlers were trying to take wickets. But we will try to improve. We'll talk about where we're going wrong. We are professionals and need to work hard, stick together, and come back strong," he said after the match.

History may repeat itself

While most fans might be greatly disappointed with how CSK plays, an interesting point of view emerged that might give a little hope for the team. Looking back to 2010, the Men in Yellow also had four losing streaks against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals.

However, under MS Dhoni's captaincy, CSK managed to win their maiden title that year. After that, Dhoni led the team to win another four titles. This similar pattern gave little hope and expectation to the fans, while on the other hand, Jadeja might be under pressure due to the comparison.

CSK will play another match on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, against Royal Challengers Bangalore. They will need to give their best in this match as RCB is not an easy opponent as they defeated the other IPL star-team, Mumbai Indians, by seven wickets on Saturday.
