IPL 2022: CSK beat RCB by 23 runs after four consecutive losses

Chennai Super Kings finally get up on their feet and score one win in their fifth game in the Indian Premier League 2022 on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. After four consecutive losses, the team finally woke up and beat their opponent by 23 runs. The match against Royal Challengers Bangalore ended spectacularly as CSK scored 216 runs in 20 overs.

Shivam Dube became the highlight of the game by scoring a fantastic number of 95 out of 46 balls without dismissal. He contributed to almost a century at the end of the first innings in a match held at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. His achievement grants him a well-deserved player-of-the-match award.

"I'm really happy I contributed to my team's first win," Dube said to Star Sports.

"It is really an honour for me to contribute for my team's first win. I think I'm more focused this time [in IPL 2022] and I'm focused on my basics - nothing much. I spoke to many senior players. Mahi [MS Dhoni] bhai also helped me improve my game. He told me to be still and just let the skill work in the game. As the situation demands, as the captain and coach tells me... I'm ready to bat anywhere," Dube ended.

Following Dube as the top scorer for CSK is Robin Uthappa who scored almost half of the total score at 88 runs off 50 balls. The third is Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored far below the top two but nonetheless helpful toward the total score with 17 runs off 16 balls.

The CSK team had a hard time getting a win after four-time losses since the beginning of IPL 2022. They lost the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26, Lucknow Super Giants on March 31, Punjab Kings on April 3, and Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9. Their fifth game finally ended in a win on the 22nd game out of 70 in the IPL 2022 T20 tournament.

CSK’s next match is against Gujarat Titans on April 17 while RCB’s is on April 16 against Delhi Capitals.

RCB Review

RCB won the coin toss and like most matches lately, decided to bowl in the first innings. They took the bat in the second innings and scored 193 runs and lost 9 wickets across 20 overs. The top scorers for the team are Shahbaz Ahmed with 41 runs off 27 balls, Dinesh Karthik with 34 runs off 14 balls, and Suyash Prabhudessai with 34 runs off 18 balls.

RCB went down in rank to fifth out of ten teams in the IPL 2022 from the previous third. This is their second loss after winning three other games. They lost against PBKS in their first match but won three times in a row against KKR, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians.
