IPL 2022: CSK, MI, RCB Suffer Losses In Each First Match

Chennai lost against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Indians surrendered in the hand of the Delhi Capitals, and RCB could not contain Punjab's gameplay strategies in the three matches starting off IPL 2022 season.

Three of IPL’s biggest teams were defeated in their first game in the competition. Two winning teams finally struck even at their losses in the IPL finals of previous years.

The latest win comes from the Punjab Kings against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. They went with a high score leading by five wickets in the 19th overs thanks to Odean Smith, Shahrukh Khan, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Shikhar Dhawan.

The Kings have Shikhar Dhawan who scored 43 off 29 balls, Mayank Agarwal with 32 off 24 balls, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa with 43 off 22 balls. Shahrukh Khan 24 off 20 balls and Odean Smith 25 not out off 8 balls.

RCB's new captain Faf du Plessis

“The batting was really good from Punjab. Probably the catches towards the end (cost us). We probably dropped him (Odean Smith) on when he was 10 or something. He is a powerful hitter. If we had held on to the chances. Though it’s a cliche, catches win matches. There was some dew out there,” Faf du Plessis, RCB captain said after the game.

RCB led by new captain Faf du Plessis was able to score 205/2 in the IPL where they batted in the first innings. 88 runs out of the total were scored with 57 balls by the debuting captain as he play as a skipper on the front. Also contributing to RCB’s score are Virat Kohli with 41 not out and Dinesh Karthik with 32 off 14 balls.

Plessis became a highlight during the match as he scored the highest by himself. The achievement even grants him a position within the top five captains to score the highest IPL score in the first innings. He took out Kieron Pollard’s fourth position and change it to his name.

The captain also completed 3000 runs in IPL as well as becoming the first debuting captain to hit a fifty in the IPL.

Faf du Plessis Transfer

He was a former member of CSK until 2021 before joining RCB with a not-so-high bid. Now many seem to regret his transfer with fans feeling it the most.

“What have you done, CSK? You let go of Faf du Plessis? You let go of the most consistent player of the team? You let go of our guardian angel? How could you do that?! 💔,” tweeted @themsdiangirl7 expressing her disappointment on the team.

“No one can tell you what is called as mixed feelings better than CSK fans who are watching Faf Du Plessis play such a glorious innings as a captain. Happy for what he is known for, sad for he ain't playing for us anymore. ❤💔,” tweeted @NeecheSeTopper on Twitter on March 27, 2022.
