IPL 2022: Winner Prediction

Predicting the winner of The Indian Premier League will only get more intriguing with the arrival of two new clubs: Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Generally speaking, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are two definite contenders in our minds. Both clubs are captained by experienced cricketers, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, and have a diversified group that has consistently performed well throughout the IPL seasons.

Fans made their IPL 2022 prediction after looking at the records, which show that Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy five times, followed by Chennai Super Kings who have won the trophy four times, and Kolkata Knight Riders who have won the trophy a couple of times.

Winner prediction: team-by-team analysis

One of the most eagerly anticipated T20 tournaments in the world is full of volatility, making it difficult to pick a team right now. We'll go through each IPL 2022 team in detail below to help you decide where to invest your money.

    Delhi Capitals

Even though they have never won the Indian Premier League Trophy, The Delhi Capitals are one of the favourites to win the 15th edition of this renowned competition.

The fact that they have a potent opening pair in the form of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw is their biggest strength. Their opponents will want to get these two back to the hutch as soon as possible because if they bat for the entire powerplay, they will put their team on the board early.

Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant will complete the top four even if one of the openers gets out early. Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur provide batting depth as well.

Despite that excellence, they also have weaknesses. This time around, there is no Kagiso Rabada to bowl alongside Anrich Nortje, and as a result, we believe they will struggle to pick up early wickets in the Powerplay, which will let their opponents get off to a flying start, making it difficult for them to stop the momentum.

    Kolkata Knight Riders

In 2012 and 2014, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the competition, while in the final of 2021, they were defeated by CSK. They are one of those teams that you can never completely rule out, regardless of the odds offered by the bookmakers.

However, given their roster for this year's competition, we'd be amazed if they made the playoffs.

Their mystery spin tandem of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy who have the ability to cause lots of problems for opposing batsmen gives them a strong advantage. Many people believe Alex Hales was a last-minute purchase, but he may have turned out to be a great one because he is full of talent.

But, due to personal circumstances, he stepped down and was replaced by Aaron Finch, who would offer talent and experience to their top order.

Unfortunately, they don't have a first-choice wicketkeeper, and we believe they're short on pace alternatives for the Powerplay and the death. Pat Cummins is a good fast bowler, but he won't be able to achieve everything on his own.

Also, if any of their probable XI players are injured, we're not sure they'll be able to replace them with similar players from their squad.

    Mumbai Indian

What makes the Mumbai Indians have a really good chance of winning is the fact that they have kept the majority of their quality batsmen from previous seasons. Rohit Sharma, India's brilliant captain, will start the batting with Ishan Kishan, the most expensive purchase at the 2022 IPL auction.

Tim David, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard will be among the middle order batsmen. They have a pace combo in Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills who can cause any batsmen a lot of problems.

However, the absence of Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, the Pandya twins, and Quinton de Kock complicates their A-game performance.

    Punjab Kings

In their lineup, the Punjab Kings feature a solid combination of power hitters and accumulators. They'll bat first with Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal, and this is an opening partnership that should provide them with plenty of stability.

Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Odean Smith, and Shahrukh Khan will likely make up the rest of the batting line-up, giving the Punjab Kings considerable six-hitting potential.

While they have a strong batting line-up, we believe they are lacking in the bowling department, particularly in terms of spin alternatives. All eyes will be on Rahul Chahar, and while we expect him to perform admirably, he will not be able to carry his team to victory in every game.

During the middle overs, we believe their bowling team as a whole will struggle to pick up wickets.

    Sunrise Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad won this title in 2016. In 2018, they reached the final but lost to the Chennai Super Kings. It's reasonable to assume SRH fans will want to forget the 2021 Indian Premier League - they finished last in the table, with only three wins out of 14 games played.

They'll be hoping for a better result this time, but bookmakers anticipate them to finish last again.

Batting was their greatest strength in 2021, but in 2022, it's the opposite. They have a formidable pace attack with Thangarasu Natarajan, Marco Janssen, Umran Malik, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Also, in Washington Sundar, we believe they have a top-notch all-rounder who will excel at both the bat and the ball.

They had Rashid Khan last season, but he has gone on, and they will miss him. Warner and Bairstow will also have a new starting pairing this time because they are playing for separate franchises.

Plus, while Kane Williamson is one of the best batters in the world, he is currently nursing an elbow injury and may not be able to bat at three.

    Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals won the Indian Premier League in their inaugural season, but they have struggled since. They have finished 8th once, 7th four times, 6th twice, 5th once, 4th twice, and 3rd once in the 11 previous editions in which they have competed.

Nonetheless, there isn't a more powerful top order with the finest bowlers like Jos Butler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shimron Hetmeyer. However, as the fifth and sixth bowling options, Riyan Parag and Jimmy Neesham are clearly in a weak place. Still, the Royals are the favourite to win this year.

    Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions, having won four IPL titles and keeping eight players from last year's final.

Many believe that despite being fourth favourites to win the title, they would not be able to retain their crown because Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis will be missing. Devon Conway, on the other hand, will be confident in his ability to fill the vacuum.

On the other hand, they still have a chance to win due to the captain MS Dhoni's calming presence in handling difficult situations on the field. Rajvardhan Hangargekar, a very intriguing fast bowling prospect who was recently a member of the Under-19 India team that won the World Cup, can give strong results alongside spinner Maheesh Theeksana.

    Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans are the other brand-new team in the 2022 IPL, and people are excited to see how they perform in their inaugural season. Gay Kirsten, who had a dismal record in the Indian Premier League with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Daredevils, will coach this new squad. It would be interesting to watch if they gel as a team fast or if they continue to lose as individuals.

Strong points, they boast one of the finest T20 bowlers in the world in Rashid Khan, who has played 311 domestic T20 games and taken 435 wickets at an average of 17.40. If they require runs down the order, Hardik Pandya is the man for the job.

David Miller is another player who can hit a cricket ball as far as anyone else in the world. They also have Noor Ahmed, a young and skilled left-arm spinner who will be exciting to watch if he is given the opportunity to play.

While they have a handful of good hitters, their batting line-up is a little thin overall, and they will rely too heavily on their all-rounders for runs. Also, it's unclear whether Pandya will be able to bowl, which would be a major setback if he isn't.

In addition, while Jason Roy's absence due to mental health difficulties is unfortunate, Rahmanullah Gurbaz possesses the qualities necessary to prosper at the top of the food chain.

    Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have never won the IPL, which is surprising given their outstanding squads. They reached the final three times, in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but lost all three times.

They have promise because they bought Du Plessis at the auction, and he will almost certainly be their captain. With the additions of Josh Haslewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Harshal Patel, they have one of the greatest bowling attacks in the tournament.

However, due to the unavailability of AB de Villiers, they will have to rely on Glenn Maxwell to score quick runs in the middle order. While Maxwell is an extremely skilled player, he can be hit or miss at times, something the RCB cannot afford.

    Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants is one of the two new teams in the 2022 IPL with Andy Flower and Gautam Gambhir in their coaching staff.

The presence of Deepak Hooda, Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, and Marcus Stoinis are excellent all-rounders for them. Furthermore, they have a very reliable starting combo in KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. They have plenty of power in their lineup, so if they're forced to chase a huge total, they'll be confident in their ability.

Furthermore, if they bat first, they will be confident in putting up a score that will put a lot of pressure on whoever they are playing against on the scoreboard.

It is fair to argue that the Lucknow Super Giants are deficient in the spin-bowling department, and they do not have top-quality backup alternatives if any of their primary players are hurt.

Mark Wood, for example, is a bowler who can supply them with plenty of quality and can cause all sorts of problems with his pace, but he has recently had injury difficulties, and if he gets hurt, there will be no one to match his quality.
