KL Rahul shares his condition after groin surgery on Twitter

Indian cricket player KL Rahul recently got treatment for an injury to his groin in Germany. On Wednesday night, he posted an update about his injury on his official Twitter account.

The athlete shared that he has begun the healing process and is also doing well in his recovery. At the same time, the 30 years old hitter conveyed a message of gratitude to his followers for their good wishes and support and reassured them that he would soon catch up.

“It's been a tough couple of weeks, but the surgery was successful," said the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants. "I'm healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon.”

Moments after Rahul's tweet, his girlfriend, the Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, tweeted the identical shot to her Instagram story and added a heart emoji to express her admiration for the Indian cricketer. Currently, Rahul and Shetty are in Germany for Rahul's treatment.

Rahul's injury and recovery

Rahul's groin injury required immediate medical attention, so the BCCI sent him to Germany. Rahul's got a groin injury because his legs took a hit due to a ball.

Due to the injury, Rahul could not participate in the five-match series that the Men in Blue played against South Africa earlier this month. He has also been ruled out of the next fifth Test match against England.

Even though the past few weeks have been difficult for Rahul, his surgery was successful. However, the time required for recovery following his operation is still unknown. As a result, he will also miss India's tour of England, which begins on July 1.

India in Rahul's absence

Rahul first played for India on the international stage in 2014. Since then, he has played over 140 games for India in all three formats. In 43 Tests, he has scored a total of 2547 runs, with an average of 35.4. This includes 13 fifties and seven centuries. He has played for India in 42 ODIs and 56 T20Is and scored 1634 runs in ODIs and 1831 runs in T20Is. The second-in-command for Team India has also reached centuries in five ODIs and two T20Is.

Last year, Rahul returned to the Indian Test team in England, which was also the match's location. He amassed 315 runs, one of which being a historic century scored at Lord's, while also forming a strong opening combination with Rohit Sharma.

After being postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 within the visitors' camp the previous year, the fifth Test between India and England is scheduled to take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Sharma will take over the match, but Sharma's availability is still uncertain because he is still in isolation after testing positive for the virus.

In Rahul's absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant led India in the T20I against South Africa. Hardik Pandya led India for the first time against Ireland while Pant and the other senior players were getting ready for the England Test.

Rahul recently led first-time team LSG to the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2022, where they were ultimately eliminated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator.
