This is Kohli’s second golden duck in a game against SRH this season. He was dismissed as he batted the ball bowled by Marco Jansen in the first game. The ball then went to Aiden Markram which takes out Kohli from the game.
Another golden duck by Kohli was made in the game against the new team Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli was also the opening batsman for Bangalore in the game thus he was taken out in the first over. The bowler who dismissed him was Dushmantha Chameera.
Even with Kohli’s awful performance, his team was able to win the match. RCB won by 67 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Sunday afternoon match. They are now ranked fourth out of ten in the IPL 2022 season.
Match Summary
The match between RCB and SRH was held on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was the 54th game out of 74 in the IPL 2022. The match ended with Bangalore winning the game by an incredible 67 runs in 20 overs.
The game started with the Challengers winning the coin toss and deciding to bat in the first innings. This is unusual since most teams in the 2022 League usually chose to bowl as they win the toss.
RCB scored 192 runs in 20 overs while only losing a measly 3 wickets. The top scorer for the team was skipper Faf du Plessis at 73 runs not out off 50 balls which includes eight 4s and two 6s.
Hyderabad then took the bat in the second innings and was unable to catch up with Bangalore’s score. The team only scored 125 runs in 19.2 overs. The top scorer for the team is Rahul Tripathi with 58 runs off 37 balls. The other scorers scored less than 25 runs.
The Sunrisers ran out of wickets before batting the last four balls in the 20th overs. The opponent’s best bowler Wanindu Hasaranga took out 5 of the Sunrisers’ wickets within 4 overs and was later named Player of the Match.
The loss takes Hyderabad into sixth place in the IPL 2022. This is quite a drop since they were ranked third several matches ago. Their scoreboard includes five wins and six losses out of 11 matches as of present. They will go next against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the winner RCB is sitting comfortably in fourth place in the IPL. They have played 12 games so far and winning seven of them and losing five. Their next game is against the Punjab Kings this Friday.
